Kimberly K. Arcand Writing with my closest colleague, Megan Watzke, means there is always someone there to hand material off to when I get blocked. That back and forth between us can be very efficient -especially since we're in different time zones! If I'm writing more solo, working on a paper for example, I find taking a half hour or more off to read someone else's work, or just browse through some popular articles online will also help.
Kimberly K. Arcand Writing allows us to go deeper into a content area than we would be able to in just our day job, working for a space-based telescope. There is much creativity involved, and I enjoy that a lot. From researching the topics to finding the best images to express those stories to seeing the finished product and promoting it, to getting feedback from our readers - I like all of it!
Kimberly K. Arcand We have two new science book proposals under review, and I'm very excited about both possibilities. But mum's the word until we have a contract....fingers crossed.
Kimberly K. Arcand The United Nations declared 2015 to be the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies. It was a great opportunity to talk more about such an important topic. Light allows us to see everything around us, though humans can naturally see just a mere a sliver of all the known light in the electromagnetic spectrum. From radio waves, harnessed for telecommunications, to X-rays, which let us peer inside the human body and view areas around black holes in deep space, there are so many ways that light impacts us.
