It's definitely nice to use a different part of my brain for creative writing than what's required of it when I'm writing something of a legal nature. I do feel lucky that my two chosen professions compliment one another so well.

When I'm excited about what I'm writing, it's not hard to be inspired. If I come up with an idea I love, I can't wait to get into the writing process. But bumps in the road are inevitable. Music can help get me in the right frame of mind. Or sometimes doing something to "cleanse my brain," some sort of repetitive task that lets my brain organize the many thoughts clanging around in there.

I think it's important to write as much as possible, even if you never show it to anyone else. It's one of those things that you get better at, the more you do. At least I hope that's the case.
