Nancy Herkness Dear Cait, I'm thrilled to hear that you are enjoying my books so much. You've made my day! In fact, I have a new book out in my new series called The Consultants. The book is THE MONEY MAN; it's contemporary romance with a touch of suspense. Book 2, THE HACKER, will be released on August 4th, and I'm currently editing Book 3, which is titled THE AGENT (for now anyway). If you'd like to find out more about this series, check it out on my website here: http://www.nancyherkness.com/books/th.... Since you enjoyed the Wager of Hearts series so much, you might also enjoy A BRIDGE TO LOVE, which features a multi-millionaire and a soccer mom. Here's the link: http://www.nancyherkness.com/book/a-b.... Thank you so much for being in touch! Let me know what you think of these books I've suggested. Stay safe and healthy! Warm regards, Nancy
Nancy Herkness So nice to hear from you, Stephanie! Alas, no, I am not planning on any more books in the Whisper Horse series. The sales were not as strong as my publisher had hoped so they decided not to continue it. If you want to catch another glimpse of Claire and Tim, though, they have a cameo appearance in THE VIP DOUBLES DOWN. I'm so glad you reached out to me. It sounds like you enjoyed the Whisper Horse stories. Are you a horse lover?
Nancy Herkness Nice to hear from you, Trish! That's a good question. I've often wondered if it would be better to have the book switch between a male and a female narrator, depending on whose point-of-view the scene is in. However, I have heard from other readers that they find two narrators distracting. Since one has to choose a single narrator, I suppose the idea is that most of my audience is female so they will respond to a female narrator better. There have even been studies done (not in relationship to audio books, though) showing that people in general pay more attention to a female voice than to a male one. That's why GPS systems tend to have female voices. Interesting, isn't it? Thank you so much for being in touch! I will pass your comments along to my editor. Warm regards, Nancy
Nancy Herkness Thank you so much for being in touch, Rebecca! I am thrilled to hear that you are enjoying my stories. Ben Cavill is very popular with my readers so I can almost guarantee that he will get his own happily-ever-after. I'm just not sure exactly when it will happen. :-) But I love him too and agree that he deserves it. His story would be part of my new Second Glances series, so make sure to check out the novella that kicks it off: SECOND TO NONE, releasing in September. Loved hearing from you!
Nancy Herkness Thank you so much for the wonderful compliment, Oletha! Love your pun, too.
How interesting that you should ask about Hugh. You are very perceptive. Yes, I do intend to make him a hero in my Second Glances series. Not the first hero, though, because he's even darker than Gavin so I need to build up to his story.
I've had other readers ask about having Dr. Ben Cavill as a hero in Second Glances as well. I'm curious as to what you think of that idea. Please let me know.
I appreciate your interest in my books and hope you'll keep in touch! Regards, Nancy
Nancy Herkness Depends on my mood but I love Venetia and Lord Damerel in Georgette Heyer's Regency Romance, VENETIA. The witty dialogue and the sizzling chemistry between them keep me re-reading their story years later.
Nancy Herkness Being able to set my own working schedule. Writing a novel is a looooooooooong process, but at least I can take breaks when I need/want to. Since I spend so much time in my own head, it's great to have to the chance to meet a friend for lunch or go visit my kids or see a movie with my hubby. Flexibility is a wonderful thing.
Nancy Herkness April 18th! In fact, my publisher just put THE VIP DOUBLES DOWN, which is Gavin's story, up for pre-order if you'd like to have it arrive right on release day without even thinking about it. :-) Here's the link: http://amzn.to/2fvlOop . Also, if you'd like to get a free Wager of Hearts Christmas novella (releasing this December), sign up for my New Book Alert here: http://bit.ly/1SDu5jp . That way you'll know whenever I have something new being published. :-) Thank you so much for your interest in my Wager of Hearts series!
Nancy Herkness Sharon, so nice to meet a fellow mountaineer! I loved growing up in Lewisburg, WV. It was full of cultured, smart, interesting people so I didn't hesitate to include the same kind of folks in my stories. Thank you very much for buying all 4 Whisper Horse books! I really appreciate that. Right now, I don't have plans to write more books in that setting, but things can always change. Have you tried my new book THE CEO BUYS IN? It's not set in WV but it has many of the same themes: family, work, and, of course, love. I tend to focus on those in all of my books, really. It was great to hear from you. Please keep in touch! Cheers, Nancy
Nancy Herkness Louise, I'm so sorry I didn't respond to your question sooner! I didn't get a notification about it (or else it got lost in my Inbox which happens sometimes, alas). I am thrilled to hear how much you enjoyed THE CEO BUYS IN. How wonderful that you found it so unique! That makes me so happy. Luke's story (his title is still under construction) will be published in May 2016. In fact, I have finished the manuscript and am currently revising it before handing it in to my publisher on Sept. 30th. So you'll definitely be seeing the sexy quarterback again in a few months. Thank you so much for getting in touch with me! Cheers, Nancy
Nancy Herkness Writer's block can be caused by different issues, so the solution often depends on the source. My first line of offense is to take a walk. The steady, repetitive motion seems to free my mind of constraints. If that doesn't work, I stop working on the scene that's giving me trouble and go on to the next scene.

But the most important thing I do is to keep writing. Writers solve their problems by writing. Even if you're writing garbage, it's helping your creative mind work through whatever the blockage is. You can always edit or, worst case, delete the junk you wrote to break the barrier.

Never give up! Never surrender! :-)
Nancy Herkness It's been awhile, hasn't it? To me, it seems like both forever and just a few months ago that THE AGENT was released (Jan. 2021). We were still in the throes of the pandemic when time became a strange, elastic thing that warped and twisted. I struggled to be creative for many months and then...an idea began to percolate in my writer's brain. An idea about a present-day fictional island country with a king and nobles who were truly noble, who believed in duty, honor, and integrity. And so Caleva was born. The first book is titled ROYAL CALEVA: GABRIEL. It will be released April 25th, 2023. I'm almost finished with writing it and cannot wait to share it with you, my wonderful readers. The cover will be coming soon (I hope!). Thanks for your patience in sticking with me!
