Jim Finucan I don't get writer's block, what I get is a product that I turn out that sometimes doesn't work and needs to be rewritten because I didn't do the prep work enough. I need notebooks filled with backstories and characters before I can even begin a project. Too many manuscripts await reconstruction in my drawers. If I don't hang index cards on Aristotle's Incline and chart out three acts of a story I run the risk of wasting precious time at the keyboard with a script that needs another take.

Jim Finucan My Mom found a notebook I was journaling in when I was 11. My Dad was homeless at the time and going through a mental breakdown, having fallen from being an incredible attorney. I flipped through the pages and even found a Bit O Honey candy wrapper and the memories of that summer came back to me. I knew I had to tell this story because it deals with bullies, homelessness, mental illness, and facing crossroads in life at an early age. That's how Wild Counselor came to be.
