I need notebooks filled with backstories and characters before I can even begin a project. Too many manuscripts await reconstruction in my drawers. If I don't hang index cards on Aristotle's Incline and chart out three acts of a story I run the risk of wasting precious time at the keyboard with a script that needs another take. (less)

(view spoiler)[My next book is about to be published; it's called Year of the Smuggler: A Memoir of the year 1984. My Dad started using his legal genius to set up tax shelters for drug dealers and smuggling cocaine, my brother became a born-again Christian and was smuggling Bibles behind the Iron Curtain. The story is really an investigation into my brother's death while I remember that fateful year. It's set to be released any day. (hide spoiler)]
