Of course, Jesse Graham and Joe Riley in The Cavanaugh House are at the top of my list LOL. I guess my favorite written by another author would have to be Claire Beauchamp Randall and Jamie Fraser of Outlander. Oh, the passion! I love how they are so evenly matched in feistiness and courage.

Inspiration comes from so many directions. A snippet of conversation, an image of a character, pondering a potential conflict. At our July 4th gathering, a poem came to me as I watched the sun setting on the still lake...cliche, I know, but there it is. Often I awaken at night with words running through my head, so I always keep a notebook by my bedside. Sometime I write in the dark so I don't wake my husband.

The first words of The Cavanaugh House crawled into my brain as my husband and I were heading to my family reunion in upstate New York. I was driving a very busy urban highway and he was asleep. I was panicked that I might forget this paragraph, but my muse, Boris, kept them in my head until I could write them down.

I'm trying to decide between a sequel to The Cavanaugh House or my third in the Love's Destiny series. I'm itching to get back to American Revolutionary research, so LD may win out over TCH.

When the ideas are just not coming, I switch gears to research, marketing or cleaning the bathrooms (notice which comes last). I never try to force my writing because it's futile and what I write ends up in the deleted scenes file. Chocolate or wine are also usually involved.
