I'm currently trying to improve my political understanding of the world, so I'm reading "Anti-Politics: On the Demonization of Ideology, Authority and the State" by Eliane Glaser, and Samantha Power's memoir, The Education of an Idealist. Both are very different but equally fascinating books.

It may sound simple, but just write! Write whenever you like, whenever you get the inspiration, and whenever you have the time. If you get an idea for a new story or just the next chapter, but don't have the time to indulge yourself at that moment, take a note of it on your phone to remind yourself later. Creative writing is never meant to be a stress or chore; if it does, give yourself a break for as long as you need, until you can return to the pen or keyboard refreshed.

Putting the final touches on my third book, Yesterdates, which is based on a lighthearted dating column I used to write for an LGBTQ magazine in London. I'm currently writing a novella titled Forgiving Jake, which is a drama story about a young woman who receives two calls in quick succession, both changing her life forever. Yesterdates is due out in August 2019, and Forgiving Jake is planned for release next summer.

I treat writer's block like a signal by my subconscious, telling me to let the story ferment in whichever depth of my mind I am drawing it from. Once my inspiration is recharged, or my mind has had enough rest to find the next path for the story or specific characters in it, I continue. As I don't write for my "day job", I have the liberty to put down and pick up my writing projects whenever I like, but if I have enough faith and interest in the story, I won't let it go for too long.
