I don't so much have a conversation with them, but they do talk to me...if that doesn't sound bonkers. I need to try and find a different voice for each character when I am writing, and because I try to give them individual personalities, I often hear their conversations in my head as I/m writing them, and they usually dictate where I'm going with a plot point or scene as well. So many times I have had the plan to do a certain thing, but when it gets to it, the character can't do it because it's not in his nature! So they do guide me and change the story, and I can only hope that that is a sign of creative writing and not madness lol. Hope that helps, and thank you very much for the question xxx

Take a break, do something else, pull out your PS4! When I get stuck, I play a game, delve into the world of Skyrim or Mass effect, or I will sit and watch some of my favourite shows like Doctor Who, Quatermass, favourite films like the Alien films, anything to inspire my imagination again. Then, when I go back to my work, my brain goes "Ah ha!" and I'm away again. But then that's just me LOL.

Escapism. I run a small business in Cardiff with my business partner and it has been eleven years of hell staying afloat. Writing offers me an escape, I can create characters and place them into situations that are impossible and fantastic, and it is a thrill to see how they develop and watch as the story unfolds beneath your fingertips. Then there is the reaction to your work. To have publishers tell you that your book is fantastic, and to see words like "wow" in an editors email, well you can't get much better than that believe me. I have yet to find out what an audience thinks of my book, but to have industry professionals embrace you and help you, it is very empowering and very fulfilling.

Never give up. Never stop writing. I have been writing all my life, and nothing ever came of it until now. It only takes one publisher to say yes, and it will change your life in so many ways, all good of course and very exciting! I had so many "no thanks" from agents, and I sent my work out to six publishers and had three offers within a week! I'm still giddy over that. So keep going, keep working, keep developing your writing. Embrace the editing bit and listen to what you are being told because it can only improve your work. But NEVER give up!

Dead Camp book two will be out in about a month or so, so I am currently working on the third instalment. There are a lot of stories to tell in this series, all of them interconnected towards the last book, and I can't wait to get to that! Few more books too go first though.

Sometimes a documentary on Discovery will set me off! I have a file full of ideas for new projects, so every time I think of something I make a note and file it away. My love of genre television, especially the ones that pioneered the field like Doctor Who, Quatermass, good old fashioned British sci-fi and horror has always fuelled my imagination. And I love the idea of messing about with history and building plots full of conspiracy! History sprinkled with lots of fact but then twisted. Love it!

I have always been fascinated by Hitler's obsession with the paranormal and I have always wanted to write something that was completely told from a gay man's perspective. And I love Vampires! So the idea came together about a group of supernatural beings, each one drawn to the other, their stories interconnected all towards one goal, and so Dead Camp was born!
