Pete Bauer I’m working on the second novel in the Gabby Wells thriller series. The book is called Lost & Found and its a challenging story from a writers perspective. It’s forcing me to spread my creative wings farther than I’m used to, which is great. By the end of it, I'll be a better writer than when I started.
Pete Bauer Don’t think of writing a book, think of being a writer, the by-product of which is the creation of books. I don’t get attached to anything I write. I think of each story as experiment. Some work. Some don’t. Some I keep. Some I throw out.

Aspiring writers often can focus too much on the story they are working on, thinking that a single novel will be their key to a writing career, when I think they should just work on being the best writer they can be and let the stories take care of themselves.
Pete Bauer For me, writers block means I’ve just lost the story. I either don’t know or don’t know how to express what comes next. It can be driven by fear, a lack of focus, or simply writing yourself into a corner. What pulls me from it is the phrase “Anything can happen.” When I remember that I’m don’t have to be stuck where I am in the story, that I can either change how I got there or how I get out, allows my brain to think outside of the path I was on previously. Find the ways your creative juices percolating and those will replace writers block with inspiration.
Pete Bauer I've been writing in one form or another since I was nine years old. The novel thing is new, but writing is not. I think any real writer doesn't need to be inspired to write, it is a compulsion. I have to write to satisfy my creative side. I don't really have a choice. I have loved creating stories almost my entire life.
Pete Bauer I've lived in a small town and one of the biggest events of the year is the Fourth of July. I love it, the music, the flags, the fireworks. Very patriotic. Sadly, we live in a world where such an event would make an easy target for people with evil intentions. As a writer, you have to think of the worst case scenario and finding out someone may be planning to commit mass murder during such an event is the scenario with which Gabby is faced.
