William Charles Any book world set in the Gilded Age would be my dream destination. I love the formality of fashion and etiquette of the time.
William Charles I recently read a memoir called "Thread by Thread" by Sharon Adornetto. It's a heart-wrenching look at the impact of caring with someone living and dying from Alzheimer's disease. I happen to know the author, and I knew her husband. The book is raw emotion, raw experience, and it shows an honest look at the toll this disease takes on not just the afflicted, but the loved ones caring for them as well. I wish I had more time to read, but every free moment I have these days is spent writing and editing my own work.
William Charles I grew up with a very vague understanding about my father and his life. I only have one memory and two photos of him. I do no know what he looked like as a young man. And the mystery is not because he wasn't around- he was! he was married to my mother but dies of cancer when I was only six. Because of their May/December romance (my father was born in 1917!) both were estranged from their families, and today all of his immediate relatives have since passed away, even the ones twice removed. My father was a pretty guarded person who did not share much about his life before he met my mother, and I have yearned to know who he was.
