I get inspired to write by being out in the world—observing & interacting with everything around me! Inspiration is all around us! And the need to connect with others is in-grained.
As a children's book author-illustrator, I often turn to universal themes & experiences, and then filter them through my own unique lens. For example, my picture book MISS MEOW is inspired by the nearly universal experience of kids everywhere pretending to be cats (or other animals) and requiring their family to treat them as such! Meeeow!
