Leah Remini Per their own organizations policy, the SP declare is supposed to be shown to you and put up in a public place. But because people were posting it, they decided not to apply that policy anymore. So they can say accuse you of anything and you would never know what was being told to your family or friends because they won't talk to you.
Leah Remini You likely have to purchase from a US retailer and have it shipped to Canada. The book is not being sold there.
Leah Remini I have saved notes, pictures and the like over the course of my entire lifetime.

Leah Remini Sadly, no I did not.
Leah Remini There are a number of concepts, ideas and practical tools in Scientology that I thought were helpful, and still do. However, with Scientology being an extremist ideology, I don’t know that it was worth it.
Leah Remini I have finished a few amazing books recently
-Hardwiring happiness
-Search inside yourself
-Take Your Life Back

These books have given me the answers I needed and have helped me to start healing.
Leah Remini I know you think you were doing amazing things for the world – that’s why you joined, because you wanted to help, you stayed because you believed you were. The world is a beautiful place, people believe in different things and that doesn't mean they are lost. There are good people in the world, actually doing the work. Just take a look. Yes, there is evil and yes it should be helped. But help yourself first, look, don't listen to what you have been fed. Take your life and your family back.

Leah Remini It was difficult. I have saved notes, pictures and the like over the course of my entire lifetime. I of course wanted to have everything in the book, so it was very helpful to have a thoughtful editor who could help me determine what elements were necessary to include and which we could leave on the editing room floor. I was still trying to get stuff into the book even as it was being printed. My editor simply responded "Leah, the book is good. You did your job." Had I had more time to keep sending her middle of the night emails, she might have quit! ;)

Leah Remini Sofia is very bright, she asks questions like "Why doesn't Aunt Katherine talk to me anymore?" I tell her the truth, which is the organization has a policy that states anyone who speaks out against it, is to be shunned. Her response was "That's nuts" to which I say "You are right".
Leah Remini I was very vocal while a member, and I felt a responsibility to tell my story after I left.

Leah Remini The organization that calls itself a church continues to attack those who are speak out against it, which is especially hurtful and eye-opening. I have heard so many sad and painful stories about the organization that I was a part of for so long, so the fact that they continue to attack only shows me I made the right decision.
Leah Remini It was many instances, which is why I wrote TROUBLEMAKER.
Leah Remini I think religion can be beautiful and comforting. It’s when it cuts you off from learning and accepting other people’s beliefs that you can run into trouble.
Leah Remini We placed our daughter in a private school in hopes that she had academic aspirations, but of course all she wants to do is sing and dance. Which we can’t avoid.
Leah Remini We all seem to connect at one point or another. There is a myriad of emotions you go through when you first leave a cult-like environment, a bad relationship, or anything toxic and damaging to your life; first you feel lost, wondering if you did the right thing, then angry (mostly at yourself), then sad. You lost a whole group who thought and spoke the same language. You left behind an idea that you were working toward something.

What I feel most members need is a new group and healing, as there is currently no support group for former Scientologists. Scientologists believe that calling yourself a victim of anything is the worst possible thing you can do. That way, if anything bad happens to you, you believe it’s your fault—which is part of the teachings.

It’s not one thing, it’s many things that can take a lifetime to overcome. But first and foremost is to educate yourself about the outside perspective on the group you were in. Get help and heal your pain.

What I want to do is work to help others to get back on their feet and provide a safe haven for people breaking ties with Scientology. Those who are in the Sea Org (the clergy) usually have very little money (pay is often as little as twenty-five dollars a week), little formal education, no friends outside Scientology, often no family support, and no pension, so it’s not easy.

Many parishioners have no group. The only support they may find is another ex-Scientologist who is gracious enough to help them.
Leah Remini I don't have to do it all! LOL I am blessed with a great hubby, mother, and support team!
