Okay, so this might seem strange, but the first fictional couple that came to mind when thinking this over was Robbie and Julia from The Wedding Singer (played by Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore). They're good-natured and easygoing and watching them makes me believe, "Those crazy kids are going to make it!" Yes, there are deeper, more complicated fictional couples, and their dynamics make me think, but they don't always make me smile.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it when I get letters from readers telling me that my book left them smiling, especially when they tell me they were really needing that smile.

Ugh. Writer's block :( . I have two ways of dealing with it:
1. If I'm stressed, I go for a long walk while listening to my "chill" playlist. This usually helps me get a fresh perspective on my day so I can sit and focus on the task at hand.
2. When I'm having trouble coming up with new material experience has taught me that the best way for me to push through is to keep writing until it feels right and good. It's hard, but it's the only way!

I've always been interested in what makes people tick and coming up with stories is a way for me to explore that. I'm always wondering what motivates people to do the things they do. A story inevitably emerges and it becomes a book when it takes off and goes in directions I never anticipated.

I'm always inspired by second chance stories and I love renovations, so I decided to combine the two by writing about characters who find love while rebuilding their lives and the houses that inspire them. I also live in a place with a lot of neat history (gypsies, engineering marvels, etc) and I thought it would be fun to weave that magic into the stories.
