Rick Reed You're a teacher and you step in front of your class for the first time. Then you realize you're just wearing underwear.
Rick Reed I would travel to the world created in any of the Jack Murphy thriller series. I have the locations and characters in my head so well that I could become a part of the story.
Rick Reed Can't get enough of Cynthia Riggs.
Rick Reed Sorry I didn't see this until now Philip. Busy working on the new story. In answer: Yes! THE HIGHEST STAKES will be released this year and possibly another THE DARKEST PLACE. Many more will follow. Thanks for being Jack's friend.
Rick Reed I have never had true writer's block. Sometimes I am not in the mood, but then I listen to A/C D/C music and lose myself in my imaginary world. I don't hear the music anymore, or notice anyone. I write something. If I don't like it I delete it or change it. It doesn't all have to be perfect. Just write something.
Rick Reed I've always written. Grade school, high school, college, and on. I never tried to publish anything but it felt good to write. I wrote a newsletter for the police department when I was a detective many years ago and no one knew for many years that I was the author. Seeing the looks on their faces and hearing them talk about the stories was better than winning an award. I was hooked.
Rick Reed Write until you can't write, and then write some more. If you can break 100 pages you can finish a book. You may hate what you write. That's what cut/paste/and editing are for. If you have to, write the ending and work your way to the beginning. It's all good. Develop your own style.

Rick Reed I wake up every morning about 4am and am writing by 5 or 6am. If you do something long enough it becomes a habit. Habits lead to routines. Routines lead to inspiration. If I don't have inspiration I write anything that comes to mind until I settle down into the story.
Rick Reed My next new book to be released is titled THE HIGHEST STAKES and takes place in Chicago and Evansville. My idea for his novel came from the time I spent working as an off-duty policeman aboard the Casino Riverboat in Evansville Indiana.
