My writing career began in 2004 with the true crime book, BLOOD TRAIL. In 2009 I began writing fiction. Police thrillers based somewhat on my experiences as a Detective in the Homicide/Violent Crime Unit.

As of February 2020 there are nine thriller novels in the Detective Jack Murphy series published by Kensington Publishing.

My books have been translated and/or sold in many countries and can be obtained as eBook, paperback, and audio books.

“Murphy’s Law says: If shit rolls downhill, at the top it must be one huge turd. The Mayor was a well-known turd, and would shit all over the chief if it suited his own interests.”
Rick Reed, The Slowest Death

“No. Okay. Here goes,” Liddell said. “A guy leaves his divorce attorney’s office and storms down the street to a bar. He sits down, orders a triple Scotch, slings it back, orders another and slings that back and orders another. “The bartender asks, ‘Hey buddy, why so angry?’ “The man says, ‘Goddamn lawyers! They’re all a bunch of assholes! ’ “A customer at the other end of the bar stands up and says, ‘Hey! I resent that remark!’ “The man asks, ‘Why? You a lawyer?’ “The other customer says, ‘No! I’m an asshole.’” Jack”
