This isn't much of an issue for me. If I run into a wall on a project, while my subconscious or conscious mind sorts out a fix for it, I work on another project. I always have multiple projects going, so I never run into one of those blocks some authors report about where they don't write for days, weeks, or months because they're blocked on one story. I just move to another project until the answer comes (which doesn't usually take long). Not stressing about the wall is critical. Stress destroys creativity. By not stressing about it and working on something else, it allows my creative juices to work on the problem and solve it while I get something else done.

Writing is free therapy? Seriously though, the thing I love most about being a writer is having the ability to share the stories that run through my head. I love to write. The process itself is therapeutic and enjoyable for me, even if I do sometimes procrastinate when I see a particularly nasty emotional scene coming up. I don't like to hurt my characters. Usually. Take the time to learn the "rules" but don't take them too seriously. By that, I mean don't let anyone shove them down your throat as though your life depends on you using them correctly ALL THE TIME. What "rules" you break and how you choose to break them is what ends up creating your author voice and writing style. If you take the time to learn those "rules", it'll make your writing stronger. Just don't let them strangle you or weigh you down as they WILL do if you let them.

For July, a contemporary romance from my Mysterious Ways series and a fantasy novel. I'm not yet releasing any information about either of those.

I get a lot of my greatest inspiration from music. I don't listen to instrumental music, as it becomes numbers in my head and destroys my creativity, but music with lyrics creates all sorts of visuals. Sometimes a phrase or concept in a song will start me down a rabbit trail than ends up in an entire novel. I also get inspired by the act of writing itself. That's not as weird as it sounds. Sometimes, something one of the characters says or does gives me an idea for another story. That's how some of my series come about, like the one I'm currently working on.

"Most recent" is an interesting quandary all its own because I seldom work on only one project at a time. This month, I've been working on two different books, one contemporary, one fantasy. The former is part of a series I started in 2013 that deals with the sometimes goofy and interesting responses we get when we throw a challenge at God. The latter was actually inspired by the fantasy novel I've recently released - one story giving me ideas for another.
