Steven Eggleton I don't know. I guess it's all a matter of opinion. I know what I like. And I know what I don't like. There is a lot of pretension in the world of poetry. You have to sift through a lot of garbage to find the cream.

I guess I'd have to say, simplicity. There is something beautiful about the understated. Anyone can puff their chest out and sling the pretentious hash. Too many words have been wasted. Make the ones you use count.
Steven Eggleton I actually just finished my first new book in 10 years; Lanugo. It's a departure, in some ways, from my earlier stuff. Calmer.

I don't think there will ever be a sequel to Dry Heat. That was a crazy book. It was my debut and I wanted to come out, "guns blazing". There was a lot of wild stuff in there. It was really raw. I couldn't write a book like that today. I'd censor myself. I don't know. If I ever did write a sequel to that book, the tone would be much different. I'm not sure fans of the original would like it. Vincente Vasquez was an animal.
