Robyn asked Steven Eggleton:

What makes a poem "good"?

Steven Eggleton I don't know. I guess it's all a matter of opinion. I know what I like. And I know what I don't like. There is a lot of pretension in the world of poetry. You have to sift through a lot of garbage to find the cream.

I guess I'd have to say, simplicity. There is something beautiful about the understated. Anyone can puff their chest out and sling the pretentious hash. Too many words have been wasted. Make the ones you use count.
