Writing is always the answer. Having a bad day? Write. Having a good day? Write. Feel like you're a terrible writer? Write, because you can't get better without writing more. Also, read as much as you can.

I'm awful with writer's block! In the past, if I ever got stuck I would just stop writing and let me tell you - that is the WORST thing you could do. Sometimes I would stop for months and then have to come back to my stories cold.
I've recently decided that I just need to make myself write every single day, no matter what I'm writing, no matter if it's good or bad. Just write, write, write!

I take inspiration from watching other people. Every book I write begins with a character (or two, or fourteen). And though I don't write people I know into my books, I still like to takes features, quirks, personalities, and mannerisms of people I know and mould them into my characters. Once I've got a good character, he or she will lead me through a story. Sounds weird, I know.

My most recent book (yet to be published) is about a girl who moves from Hawaii to a little town outside Toronto. She makes friends with this nerdy kid who is constantly getting bullied, and together the two of them take up boxing and fight in a championship to put this bully down.
I got the idea for the idea for this book while I was honeymooning in Hawaii and wondered what it would be like for someone from Hawaii to have to move to Canada in the middle of winter. Answer: it would be terrible.
