Hi! Yes, I recommend starting with The True Reign series first. Once you’ve read The Key, Red, and War, you’ll be ready for the Reign of Secrets series (which is a spin-off of the first series).

No, no novella. Sorry. Just another full length book is in the works! Have you read Oath of Deception? It's from Savenek's POV and takes place alongside COD. You'll see that Savenek and Allyssa's stories will eventually come together and overlap. So after Oath of Deception is Oath of Destruction. Then the next book will be from Allyssa's POV.

You can read Cage of Deceit without/before reading The True Reign Series. However, there are some characters and hints dropped that you may very well miss in COD if you haven't read True Reign. So my advice is if you plan to read True Reign anyway, might as well read it first.

Good question!! When I'm writing a book, I create characters that I wish I knew, or that I hope I never meet!! With characters like Rema and Allyssa, I wrote characters that are strong and embody characteristics that I wish I had sometimes. With Lennek and Barjon, I tried to envision the worst traits imaginable. And honestly, writing scenes with the evil characters is a lot of fun for me. Another thing I do before I write a book is spend time thinking and dreaming about the world. I imagine different people at a ball, or riding horses, or practicing archery, and see how things play out. From there, my characters start taking on their own personalities. I actually have a binder for each of my series with lists of the characters, pictures, and detailed descriptions. It helps make them real for me. And in a way, these characters are real.
