Hi Kari, the trigger was the attack on 911. So many people were of the "why do they hate us?" frame of mind, I wrote a non-fiction book called the Citizen's Guide to the War on Terror to explain things from the perspective of one who served on a special forces detachment and lived in the middle east for a year. The book made it to committee, but was never published. I enjoyed writing, but wasn't qualified to write any other non-fiction book, so I started writing short stories, then novels. Thanks for stopping by. Max

Hi Mark, I was. Grade school, jr. high, high school. Off to the military, then back to work, then studied in the area.
If you decide to check out The Diaries of Pontius Pilate, let me know what you think. Thanks, Joe

Hi Sheila, sorry for the delay in getting back to you, its been a heck of a week. Most of what I write falls under the definition of "thriller," though Baghdad Burning can also be called military fiction. As a fellow author you well know that the term “Christian Fiction” is used by some to pigeon hole and dismiss our work. You don't see Lincoln Child and Douglas Preston’s stuff being called Buddhist fiction or Richard Dawkins atheist fiction (just kidding) or Dan Brown heretic fiction (kidding again), but if Jesus Christ is even mentioned in a positive way - Boom - you’re Christian fiction.
So, unless I know I’m talking to a Christian, I always describe my work as Thriller. Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Mark, I wonder that myself. Personally I really liked the guy, but the story killed him off so my guess is he had to go. Let me explain a bit more. I don’t use an outline or plot chart when I write. I start with a general idea of what the story’s about and where its going to go and then start telling it. I keep asking myself, what would happen next, now what would happen, over and over again. After about 30 pages, you start to paint yourself into corners and the story just takes over. Sure I could go back and re-write, or just make the story bend, but the folks that follow my work would not like how contrived that would be.
This was a great question, so I posted it on my home page as well. Let me know what you think of Separation of Church and State.

A novel length prequel to The Fellowship of the Essentials books and a Ted Kehr short story prequel for a Christmas Gift - I hope - for my readers.
