Mark Henwick Yes. I have an outline which is waiting for me to get writing. A Name Among the Stars did well, but for some reason A Threat Among the Stars never took off, so it slipped down the priority list. I doubt I'll be able to write it this year, but it is definitely on the list.
Mark Henwick Hi Horhe, yes. I have started writing. I anticipate two more books. At the moment, my priorities are 1. Book 8 of the Bite Back sereis, and Book 4 of The Long Way Home series, so Among the Stars has to come 3rd at the moment.
The take-up of A Threat Among the Stars was disappointing, but I think a third book will give me an opportunity for marketing to fix that.
Mark Henwick Thank you! I'm writing BB8 now and there are a couple more to follow. I am a slow writer, but not usually this slow!
My predictions are always bad, but I *really* have to get BB8 out before I visit the US this fall. I'm at about 75-80%, but I've been stuck.
Mark Henwick Hi Art. Sorry, missed this question.

Julia is already working on it. She gave me an optimistic estimate of Christmas, and we didn't make that. She's having to change her studio to accommodate this book and assures me it's top of her list.

I can't really make any accurate prediction until I get to the final pass from her. A guesstimate would be March.
Mark Henwick I sometimes need even more wriggle room than that!
I have made a rod for my own back by creating 3 series, for the best of reasons, or so it seemed at the time.
Part of your question about Kath, Amber's sister, may have been chopped off by the Goodread's entry screen, but I can tell you that Angel Stakes explains some of what has been at the root of the problem, Inside Straight will move it forward and there will be a resolution...
Good luck with your writing, and don't make all the mistakes I made! :-)

Mark Henwick Hi

I can't remember saying Inside Straight would be out by July in 2017, but I suppose it's possible I did. My writing priorities are set by the business side of being an author, which means responding to readers *as a group*. Based on that, my view was that I needed to redeem my promise to complete Bian's Tale 1 as an alternative view on the Athanate, and publish the Science Fiction book that I'd started as a serial on the blog. I did those and now Inside Straight, Bite Back 6 is my main priority for writing. It's about 50% done, will definitely be out this year, and I'll make better forecasts when I get to 75%.
The Bite Back FB page is a better place to see updates than Goodreads.
I am slower than other writers, but I believe the effort I put in makes the result worthwhile. I'm sorry I can't be quicker and that my estimates are often wrong.
Mark Henwick Zelazny's Amber, for all other worlds are mere shadows of it.
Mark Henwick Lol. I can't upload pictures to this message to let others vote on it.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I much prefer the MP5, and I guess it shows in my books. But consider this - someone had to choose which small machine pistol to have as standard for Altau. That's the remit of the Diakon, so it would appear that Bian agrees with you about the P90.

:-)
Mark Henwick I'm deep in re-writing Bian's Tale book 1, and have written some of Bite Back 6 (probably going to be called Inner Game), and a sort-of connected novella (parts of which are appearing on the blog site).
I am hopeless at estimates, at least until I start getting drafts in front of my editor.
A short story 'Enzili' will be released in an anthology in March called 'Vampires of the Caribbean'. It involves the Athanate and is set in the 1790s. That's already written, so I'm pretty sure about that.
I think Bian's Tale will be next, and I think that'll be out in mid year. Bite Back 6 should follow in the fall, and I will also publish the third novella in the Outsiders companion series at the same time, since that will overlap with the early chapters of BB6.
Mark Henwick Thank you!
The narrator, Julia Motyka, was not available over this summer. She has scheduled studio time in September to start narration on Angel Stakes. On previous experience, this should mean it will be available in December.
I will keep everyone updated on the Facebook page and blog site as the project gets under way.
Mark Henwick Thank you! I hope you enjoy Cool Hand.
The narrator, Julia Motyka, has a scheduling problem this summer, and Bite Back book 5, Angel Stakes, will not start recording until September 2016. I am *guessing* that means the audiobook will become available about the end of November.
Mark Henwick Hi Adam

Cool Hand has been recorded and submitted to Audible for 'checking'. Whatever that is, it usually takes a couple of weeks, so I'm guessing it will be available on Audible in the first week of May, and slightly later, on Amazon & other suppliers.

The narrator, Julia Motyka, has some scheduling problems over summer, so she's actually recording the novella prequel at the moment. *Hopefully* that will be available in June.

Later in the summer, she will start Angel Stakes, but I don't have a date from her yet.
Mark Henwick In my previous life I learned the awesome power of Lists. Lists have Items. Items have deadlines and priorities. Once you trust your List, you know that you have to spend 3 hours this morning on project A and you can forget about all the other Items until lunchtime.
That's the theory, and it worked well in the commercial world. However, the creative world is a little unruly. That's why I'm months late with Angel Stakes and I have a half-finished Bian's Tale book 1.
Mark Henwick Ouch. I've been so distracted with book 5 re-drafting.
My marketing director (daughter) has just organised a second rework of the covers, and I'll use that as a prompt for me to get the print version of Cool Hand done. Sorry for the delay, should have been done ages ago.
Mark Henwick Julia Motyka has Cool Hand in the studio now, and I expect her to be finished by the end of February.
Then we have two processes to go through which we cannot hurry: (1) Payment to Julia needs to go through a union-approved transfer, and then (2) we submit the recording to Audible for 'quality checking' and 'processing'. Those could take a month, so best guess is end of March.
If there are any major delays, I'll post here, the website and on Facebook.
Mark Henwick Yes. The whole series is multi-threaded, and romance is one of the threads - I guess it takes somewhere between 5 and 10%. It's more at a flirting level in the prequel (Raw Deal) and book 1 (Sleight of Hand), but it progresses from there. When it occurs, the sex is explicit (you know what's going on) without being graphic (I don't describe it in detail).
I wouldn't put spoilers here, but if you'd like more detail, message me :-)
Mark Henwick I can't really answer that one! Do tell me when you've read it.
It *has* been a long time coming, partly because I started the year writing Bian's Tale book 1. The Bite Back series is now definitely the priority, so hopefully BB5 will be here quicker.
Mark Henwick Hi Rachael
Hidden Trump is with Kimberly now. It's a bit difficult to gauge how long it will take, because we had some audio production delays with SoH.
If I continue to get the same good reactions to each book, I will continue to turn new ones into audio books.
The only one I'm not sure about at the moment is Raw Deal.
Thanks
Mark
Mark Henwick Writing has been slow over this summer, and releasing a new Bite Back book was always going to be delayed by working on the first book of Bian's Tale.
So currently, I'm sitting here with two books half written! Anyway, all efforts currently on finishing Bite Back 4, (Cool Hand), and then a short story for an anthology due out at Christmas, and then back to Bian's Tale 1 (Reach of Lies).
I wish I could write faster! I will discover a trick to it someday. (I hope)
