Kenna McKinnon I think I would go to my world of Gracklen on Draxxt, where Dragons are friends and the land is now at peace after the Troll Wars. I'd study magic with the old Queen and heal the land as best I could.

If it were not one of my books, I think I'd pick any book by Robert Heinlein, any of his worlds, and would be a badass woman who teams up with a group of dissidents to save the world. As a senior, I still would go back to the mindset of the university students of the 1960s and 1970s, and find a suitable partner to help me make the world a better place.
Kenna McKinnon My most recent book is called Engaging the Dragon and I got the idea from a publisher I once queried, who was interested in dragons. There's no difficulty getting ideas for books, but this particular book is a fantasy and there are several characters on an alien planet, who are spinning off into sequels. At the moment, my WIP is a spin-off from Engaging the Dragon called Timothie Hill and the Cloak of Power, and it's based on a superhero hair stylist named after my own hair stylist. We discussed this about a month ago as I was having my hair cut, and he is thrilled that I have him starring in his own adventure book. It's a lot of fun. Engaging the Dragon is being published by Creativia, my current publisher, and I will submit the sequel to Creativia as well.
Kenna McKinnon The independence of working for oneself, though admittedly, pleasing an audience and the publisher if one is not self-published. I would say the freedom to let one's imagination soar and play as a child would play, except it's with words.
Kenna McKinnon I don't have writer's block often, but when I do hesitate in my writing, I go for a walk or read or watch a movie that's connected to the WIP. That usually works. Or I'll simply start to write, even if it's nonsense, and then it gradually starts to develop.
Kenna McKinnon As a child, it was a mystery to me if I were truly my parents' daughter, and when I was older, I discovered they'd never married and my mother was married previously. Therefore, since I was the eldest, there remains the question of whether the father I knew is actually my father. That's a mystery in my own life. We didn't know of my mother's previous marriage until she was on her deathbed, and my sister discovered her birth certificate, which gave a different maiden name than she'd always told us. The name she'd given to us as her maiden name was in fact her previous married name. This occurred during WWII and my mother's husband was apparently fighting overseas when she met my father. I was born in 1944, during WWII, and so it appears that my parents never actually married, and they moved to a secluded area of the country in the Peace River country, we think because mom wanted to hide out. As well, they had three other children born within a year of one another. My mother had come to the Peace River country with me as a baby before my father was discharged from the army. So she was waiting for him when he arrived home at the farm. It all seemed a mystery to us growing up, and they never had a wedding photo as most soldiers did during those days, and they never celebrated their wedding anniversary. There were a lot of secrets in those days.
