Rachel V. Knox I knew I wanted to write something with atmospheric gloomy weather and I chose fog. 'The Fog' was a film that terrified me when I was probably too young to be watching horror films. I was also inspired by one of my favourite sci-fi/horrors from the 1970s. The 70s version of 'Invasion of the Bodysnatchers' is set in a city and different in that respect from the book and the original film. I like it for its claustrophobic paranoia, and the disturbing ending. Although Revenants isn't a horror novel, I'd say it's a fantasy thriller with elements of horror, though it's a more psychological and paranormal type of horror. I don't do extreme violence.
Rachel V. Knox I use 4thewords to write. It's a gamified writing platform where you fight monsters. So if I have to write 500 words to defeat a monster to complete a quest, it's a good incentive to just keep writing and not overthink it. If the writing is not good due to having an off day, I can edit or change it. It's not the end of the world if it's not perfect. (I mean when is anything ever perfect?)
Rachel V. Knox Wherever I am in the Wheel of Time series by the time it's summer again.
Rachel V. Knox I would like to visit Rivendell and Lothlorien in Tolkien's Middle Earth.
Rachel V. Knox The mystery of my Chinese grandfather. The family tells two different stories. The romantic version is that he left China because he was anti-communist and his life was in danger. The ordinary version is that he left for a better life. Either way, it's a big thing to leave your homeland, and he suffered poverty and racism in the UK before eventually doing well as the manager and eventually owner of Maxim's restaurant in London.
