Jennie Samuel I was inspired by my backyard pond and wanting to writing a wholesome story for kids. My inspiration came from books I had read as a child and wanting to bring a story that included a connection to God and the gospel of Jesus Christ as Savior. I hoped to encourage believers and provoke thought to those who may not have Jesus in their life.
Jennie Samuel I have started a sequel to Beyond The Pond...Beyond Murdoch's Landing. I have developed new characters, but I've been distracted with other fun things in my life like taking up golf and water color painting. So, finishing the story has sadly taken a backseat to other things in my life right now. I'm pleased that many reviewers wanted a sequel and I hope to finish it one day.
Jennie Samuel Write about a subject you know something about, and research topics you may not know about. Have family/friends proofread and ask for their honest opinion. Be open - I mean really open for criticism. And, if you've spent long hours writing a chapter and several people tell you it's not good - then start over or fix the areas they recommend, which may mean eliminating pages of text.
Jennie Samuel It allows me to be creative and have fun. I find it is also challenging, especially because I never viewed myself as an author when I was younger.
Jennie Samuel I will ask for help from family/friends to get their ideas. Sometimes reading another book or seeing something on TV can spark an idea to develop the plot. If there is a block, there is a reason for it. Trying to push through doesn't work for me. I'll write my ideas down, but when the right one comes....I know it.
