T.C. Slonaker Hi Rachel. So glad to hear you liked it! Thank you so much. This time around, I plan to release Caedmon of the Angelmen next. I haven't heard anything definite from my publisher, but I would expect to see it by the end of this year. And then, hopefully, Asher will be next year, so stay tuned! And, yes, Kindle is my favorite way to go, so they will all be available on that format. Thanks for your interest!
T.C. Slonaker Thanks for the question, Arthur! I'm afraid Asher of the Angelmen is temporarily out of print (including ebooks). Once I changed publishers, I had to start the series over. But don't worry! Book #2 of the Angelmen series - Caedmon of the Angelmen- will hopefully be out in the fall of 2017. Shortly after that, I plan to re-release Asher of the Angelmen again. Stay tuned!
T.C. Slonaker Usually, during the summer, I bring an old favorite classic to the shore with me when I go on vacation. But this year, I am really interested in finding and supporting new authors who write like I do. I've started reading J.S. Bailey, and I am enjoying Rage's Echo at the moment. Next, I plan on hitting up the Michael Vey series, as suggested by new friends of mine. I just started a new group called "Book Recommendations - join in and tell me what to read this year!
T.C. Slonaker Thank you for the question. I'm sure to get many "boo"s for this, but my favorite couples are not fictional. Other than my husband and me, the best love story I know is Jesus and His bride, the Church. However, that love is what inspired me when I wrote two of my main characters in the Angelmen series. One will need to sacrifice the precious gift of life in order that the other can live. Hopefully, my readers will also see the connection when they get to book 5, The Battle.
T.C. Slonaker Good question, Diana. When I look around, I see that, yes, pretty much every story worth reading has been done. With that in mind, there is only one story in my mind that needs to be repeated - the story of God's love and His plan for salvation. When I started my Angelmen series, my goal was to show that beautiful story from another angle - the salvation of another race (the Nephilim). So, the first 4 books will introduce the characters that you will hopefully grow attached to, and then in the 5th book, we will see God's plan for them unfold.
Am I influenced by what I read? Well, the Angelmen books are influenced by the Bible. But as for other fiction that I read, I would say yes also. Good, quality fiction more than anything else has taught me how unfold a story in a beautiful, yet concise and action-filled way.
Every book is a learning opportunity!
T.C. Slonaker My 3rd book, Caedmon of the Angelmen, was just contracted this month, and I am hoping to see a spring 2015 release. Between edits on that one, I am tidying up the rest of the books in the series and working on a few other novels that have been swimming around in my mind.
T.C. Slonaker Reading other good books, of course!
T.C. Slonaker I was inspired by C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia. It fascinated me that a writer could "create" a type of creature, as he did with fauns and the like. The writer could then decide everything about the abilities of that creature as well. It dawned on me that Lewis didn't make up the creatures in his book, so I decided to look around for other sorts of "mythical creatures."My favorite place to research is the Bible, and I think God may have thrown a little hint in my ear as well when I started to consider the Nephilim.

As far as the inner conflict goes, I thought about the logical lineage of the Nephilim. The first father would have been a demon, but every parent after that would have been human. That made it a little more believable for my characters to never have known about their ancestry prior to being told, and I could write them for the most part as humans. However, just as the first sin of Adam carried all the way through his bloodline, so the demonic heritage would follow the Nephillim.

Thanks for the questions!
T.C. Slonaker Reading my book in paperback and seeing something that turned out really cleaver.
