Hi Warren. Apologies for getting back to you sooner. I never received a note from Goodreads to tell me you'd asked me a question. I've only just seen it!
I'm a big fan of Jonathan Green's Pax Brittanica series - it's great fun, fast-paced and funny. I'd also recommend Cherie Priest - her Boneshaker series is excellent.

I'm tinkering with a (slightly) cyberpunky dirty cop story at the moment. No idea if it'll lead anywhere at the moment, but it's nice to be writing something different. Three years and three books with the same characters was good fun, but it's always good to make a change every now and again. Currently about 15k words into a first draft on this new thing - I'll let you know if it heads anywhere interesting.

Inspiration can come from anywhere - particularly other books! I read a lot of non-fiction; popular science and history mostly. That can prompt wonderful "what if..." thoughts. Most of them go nowhere, but sometimes a germ sticks in the mind and eventually grows into a plot or a character or even just a scene.

I've been kicking the central idea around for ages - thinking it might be interesting for my heroes to come up against a mad scientist Frankenstein-type character. That, mixed up with some historical reading on the Irish rebels during the First World War, prompted me to start scribbling.
