Rand McGreal Killing an Idea is part of a series of books about the pioneers of economic theory. Most have disappeared from view. Like heirloom tomatoes the originals have some tasty surprising delights. I am trying to expose those ideas through the 'Lost' series of books.

The big idea in my books is to use a fantasy approach in an economics book to make the topic more fun. Reading should be fun. Shouldn't it?
Rand McGreal I get inspired by a marketplace of readers looking for answers you can provide. Unless there is a ready audience there is no point in writing. When you can answer someone's question it is fulfilling.
Rand McGreal The independence. What is the worst thing about being a writer? The independence. The greatest difficulty in writing is knowing how your words affect the reader. Is this conversation clear or dragging on too long? How does the reader preceive your characters? Every writer needs a confidant they can ask stupid questions. Rand McGreal Writing is like any job. Some days the work is easy and other days you must chip away at a tough vein in the stone you are carving. I think the best way to avoid writer's block is to know what you are trying to say. Why are you writing? What do you want to tell people? How do you want to reader's to feel or understand?

I often lean back in my chair and ask--what does the reader want to know or need to know. Thinking about the reader's wants always shows me the direction to proceed.
