Marie Anne Cope Oooo, now that's a great question!
I would have to say it is linked to the parachute accident I had in 1997, after which I couldn't walk for two weeks. Twenty years later, I went to see a psychic, and he said to me, 'You shouldn't be here.' Thinking I had the wrong time, I apologise, but he clarified by saying I should have died in 1997, but I made a deal to come back.
It sends a shiver down my spine even now and is on my list for development!
Marie Anne Cope Now, this is an interesting question as there are many worlds I would go to, but, if pushed, I would have to say Wonderland, where I would sit and converse with the Cheshire Cat, as I feel we have a lot in common ;-)
Marie Anne Cope Before me, mounted on the wall like game, hang the severed heads of six people, the sinew and tissue hanging from the base of each neck, as though the head has been torn from the body; the look in their now glassy eyes making me shudder. At the centre of this macabre display hangs a board still bare, except for the plaque at its base, a plaque engraved with my name.

Marie Anne Cope My most recent book will be Bonds: Re-Bound, the third in the Bonds series. It follows on from where Broken Bonds ended.
The 'baddies' in the book are highwaymen and I chose them as I have always been fascinated by them and would be made up to find a highwayman in my family tree. Antony is not so happy about his intertwined past with these guys!
Marie Anne Cope To be honest, it's my imagination. I have a very vivid and very dark imagination and this provides me with tonnes of material.
Odd things will also inspire me. For example, Bonds was inspired by a stone sarcophagus I saw at the back of a village church whilst I was attending a wedding. Something I didn't expect to see in such a setting.
Marie Anne Cope I've just sent my first children's book - The MIsfits - for editing and proof reading, with a view to publishing it on Halloween 2017. It is a supernatural tale after all.
I have also just put pen to paper, literally, on Bonds: Re-Bound (the third in the Bonds series) with a view to publishing it on Halloween 2018. All I'll say is that it is so much darker than its predecessors!
Marie Anne Cope If you have a story to write, write it. Do NOT let others drag you down and hold you back. Believe in yourself and what you have to say.
The other key point is to write the WHOLE story before you start to edit. A lot of people write a chapter, then edit and edit again and edit again.....and never finish the novel. Get it all down, even if it's drivel; you can change it later!
Marie Anne Cope Having conversations with the voices in my head and creating stories by allowing myself to delve into the deep dark recesses of my mind.
Marie Anne Cope Honestly? I don't tend to suffer from writer's block. Before you all throw your arms in the air and cry 'foul', I'll explain why.
I truly believe it is down to the way I write. I start with character names and full profiles (critical, if you want to make your characters real), then I do bullet points (random) on what the story is going to be about, then I plot it all on a timeline, then I do a detailed storyline, then I write the book.
The timeline means writer's block is not an issue because if I am struggling with one part i.e. I'm disagreeing with my plan, then I pick another part to write. Usually, by leaving it alone, the issue resolves itself and I amend my timeline.
Marie Anne Cope I don't tend to have a summer reading list. I have a bookcase full of books which I haven't read and so, it is either one of these that takes my fancy, or it is the choice of the book club which I run.
