Hey, Ty! I got the idea watching the news! It was maybe 12 or so years ago now, there was a town in Wisconsin experiencing small earthquakes. The kept referring to them as these nightly "booms". I never knew they had earthquakes in Wisconsin, so my brain started wondering what could be causing them. I'm a huge fan of alien horror like Invasion of the Bodys Snatchers and The Blob. I decided to follow that thread and it led to this story. You can check out one of the Wisconsin articles here: https://bringmethenews.com/minnesota-....

You may see it again in 2020. i haven't got a plan yet, but I have a feeling it'll be rolled back out before the end of next year.
Until then, I think you can find some used copies online.

My advice is to stay true to who you are. Tell the story that you want to tell. There are plenty of people who try to write to an audience or write to try and make money. That might work for a bit, but you chance losing yourself. Don't get complacent. Don't stick to one type of story. Push yourself, stretch out with each tale. If you're not sure where a story is supposed to go, let the characters dictate the direction. What would they do next? They might lead you into a mystery or a science fiction tinged area. That's okay. Even if you don't usually go into those genres, let yourself try it out. You might be surprised at the results. YOU are what makes your stories special. Never forget that. Good luck.--GR

I'll check it out. I'm still hoping to get that sequel out in the last part of this year. Stay tuned.

I'll be reading some Stephen King (IT and DUMA KEY each for the first time), re-reading THE GUNSLINGER, plus checking out books by Russell James, Kristopher Rufty, Mark Rigney, Aaron Dries, Tom Deady, and Robert Dunbar. Also try to read the debut from Matt Hayward and the July release from Ronald Malfi.

“He was sitting on a bench in the park when he observed the girl watching him…. a very pretty girl…. reading a book.”
This is without a doubt my favorite love story in a horror novel EVER. It also happens to be found in my favorite novel of all-time, Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot. So, we have Ben Mears former resident of Jerusalem’s Lot. He returns as an adult to write his next book. A book about or inspired by his haunted memories of the big creepy house on the hill…the Marsten House. When Ben meets Susan, it’s in the park. She’s reading a book—his book. By the end of their first meeting they’ve set up a date to the movies and Ben signs the library copy his book for her: For Susan Norton, the prettiest girl in the park. Warm regards, Ben Mears
King goes on to build this great “Made for Hollywood” old-school romance between the two. It is a timeless love story. The date to the movies, dinner with her parents. The mom who doesn’t trust him, the dad that warms to him rather quickly. There is, of course, the ex-boyfriend who doesn’t take too kindly to this stranger coming in and stealing his girl. Ben is staying at a local bed and breakfast that is under the watchful eye of the town’s gossip queen. Small towns and their grapevines! I mean, there is so much wrapped in this romance that it could have been its own book, but it’s not. It’s woven perfectly into the story of a vampire coming to an isolated, small Maine town and sucking it dry.
King does an amazing job painting these two wonderful characters. I’ve read the book four times. It means the world to me. And this romance is a huge part of that. If you haven’t read it, do so.

Hi, Karen. I actually live in Maine. I think the woods have a lot to do with our horror minds. There's so much that we can't see just beyond our doors. It just initiates this child-like fear within us. And that always makes for a good scare. Whether you're reading a good, spooky book or watching the Evil Dead.

Alive 1, and Love Gun. I've loved Kiss since my brother brought home a Memorex tape with a bunch of cool Kiss songs home from our cousin's house. I started buying all the seventies albums because they were less than ten dollars apiece at the time. I've been a fan ever since.

The Haunted Hals was born from a short story I wrote called, "Night Swim".
I work overnight at a hotel on the weekends. I was walking past the pool one night ( probably about 2 in the morning)and imagined someone getting out of it and everything turning cold. Then, I thought, "what if that were a guest and the water turned ice cold while they were in there. They get out and the cold follows them?" I got goose bumps thinking about that. I hurried back to the desk and scribbled that short story. Once i looked at it again, I knew it was the beginning of something much larger.

I was a member of the Leisure Books Horror Club up until Dorchester Publishing went down. Those books/authors (Laymon, Ketchum, Keene) got my scary story juices flowing.

I'm currently working on a variety of projects. My next novel, Window, is getting the most time, but I'm also working on several short stories, and a new novella called, Bring Me to Life.
