Author Debra Dunbar invited me to be a part of a holiday anthology with several other authors titled, A Very Paranormal Holiday. I had no clue what to write and brainstormed ideas for a few secondary characters in my UltraSecurity Series. I enjoy writing TimeTrap's fun, witty voice and decided to write a short about her, which become The Grandfather Paradox. The ending of the story saw TimeTrap get an uncertain happy ending. In my new book set to be release this summer, TimeTrap's story continues with inter-dimensional baddies trying to come between her and her new man. Just like the other books in the series, I was inspired by James Bond films, sci-fi horror themes, and superhero stories all tied up with a happy ending.

Sometimes a scene just pops into my head. "What if?" scenarios from mistaken identity to aliens landing in someone's backyard to a person suddenly developing special powers. How would I react to these conflicts? How would someone who is an alpha personality or is wealthy or poor or is a mother or a single man react to these situations? Because each person (character) is different and would deal with the situation in unique ways based on their background and current situation.
I love watching the ghost hunting and supernatural destination TV shows. The legends and mythologies from cultures around the world fascinate and inspire me. What if they are real? Did a real-life event inspire them?

I get to escape into a world that I created and share my creation with readers. There is nothing more fulfilling than having others read my work and enjoy my story. It is truly special to touch total strangers in such a positive way. Once they read my book, I don't feel as if they are strangers anymore.

Wine and coffee. Not necessarily in that order. ;)
Actually, the best cure is talking it out with my husband or critique partners. After I kvetch about being frustrated with my latest WIP to the point of not writing, my friends may offer up the following: "What if you did this?" or "Would it work better if X actually told Y about the stuff and the thing during the scene?" or "I think this is fabulous as it is. Such a fantastic story. I want to read more."
They give me the kick in the butt I need to break through the writer's block.
