I've never had writer's block, but I have gone through slumps in writing. These slumps were caused by the burn out many of us face when we are trying to juggle a full-time day job, a family, plus a growing writing career. Allowing myself a few days off will usually resolve this, as will having a concrete deadline I'm working towards.
I'm not a huge plotter, but the plotting I do do is vital. If you are struggling with writers block, I suggest learning about plotting and structure. It's much harder to have writer's block if you've already mapped out how the story is going to end and have at least a loose idea of what will happen in each chapter to get you to that ending.

My favorite thing about being a writer is connecting with readers. Sharing a story I produced from my imagination means that that story isn't solely mine any longer. It's part of the consciousness of anyone who reads the words and falls in love with the characters. How incredible it is to be a part of that!

Read. Read a lot. Follow that up with writing a lot and being gentle with yourself. Writing is about self-expression and discovery. There is no right or wrong method as long as what you're doing is working for you. If you wish to share your work or become a published author, prepare yourself for rejection. When rejection happens, allow yourself a day to wallow, then go back to the beginning of this paragraph and begin again. Repeat as necessary.

I'm working on a sequel to Blood King. It's a lot of fun to write! The characters make me laugh, but they are complicated, so there's a fair amount of head spinning going on as well.
