I'm currently working on the third book in my 'For Those In Peril' series. It's due out in summer 2015 and I'm about half way through the very first draft. At the moment, I'm concentating on getting the general storyline down, and I'll come back and flesh out all the little details, themes, motifs and subplots when I start working on later drafts.

For 'The Outbreak' it was sitting at the top of Buchanan Street in Glasgow in Scotland, watching all the shoppers down at the far end and thinking that the way they were moving made them look like zombies. From there, I started what would happen if they were, and that got the whole book idea rolling as I started to lay out out in my head all that might follow were a zombie apocalypse to start on a street very much like that one.

Sit down and write something. Anything. Don't concentrate on tyring to make it good (that's what editing is for). Just concentrate on getting something down on the page from start to finish. Once you have that, read over it, look at which bits you like and which you don't and then work out how to changes the latter in the former. If you can't make it good, this doesn't mean you've failed. It just means that it's time to move onto something else.
