Signe Kopps That's a hard one. I've become more efficient at seeing holes in ideas where before I would go off all giddy and starry-eyed and that can be demoralizing.

When I'm stuck, I open up projects that I've shelved and start working on them so at least I'm engaged and writing.
Signe Kopps It's something I love and need to do. It gives me the freedom to wallow in my love of words and storytelling.
Signe Kopps My two top pieces of advice are to write everyday, even if it's only 15 minutes a day, because those 15 minutes will grow until you've established a practice you can sustain. And second, don't wait to be inspired. As others have said, inspiration comes with doing the work, not thinking about it.
Maybe third is to join a writing community, either online or where you live. Other writers can be a great resource, plus our work is so solitary that it's nice to talk about writing with people who care.

Signe Kopps I just released the second edition of Anthra's Moon with a new cover and minor changes in the text. I'm finishing up Queen of Incense, an historical novel about the journey of Bilqis of Saba to meet King Solomon in Jerusalem. After the Queen is launched, I'll write book two in the Anthra series.
Signe Kopps It's a happy accident when something grabs me. I like odd happenings in everyday life and I like writing about girls and women who undertake a quest.
Signe Kopps I was researching the legends around thunderbirds and came across Argentavis Magnificens, a prehistoric bird that lived about 6 million years ago. It's considered the biggest bird that ever lived. At its height it stood over 8-10 feet tall with a 25-foot wingspan. It was the size of a small Cessna airplane. The image of a bird that huge flying overhead spooked me, so of course I thought it would be a great character in a book.
