Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Barbara Alvarez Two old houses located in Downtown Las Cruces (close to the original town site). I got a "what if?" running through my head and it wouldn't let me go.

How do you get inspired to write?
Barbara Alvarez I look around me and watch people. I closely observe my surroundings (which gave me the idea for my "WWII saga." (I am still working on that one.)

What are you currently working on?
Barbara Alvarez A novella that is the sequel to "Freelance Love," the first fiction I published.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Barbara Alvarez Practice, practice, practice. Write every day or several days a week.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Barbara Alvarez I get to use my imagination!

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Barbara Alvarez I write for a living, so I can't afford to be "speechless." If I can't come up with words, even after reading my outline, I work on my "work writing."

Once I have been writing for a while, I find that the words come more easily, whether for my fiction or work writing.
