Sylvia Clare almost certainly middle earth since i ont read enough alternative reality books to know many - and i would want to go and live with Galadriel and
the elves.
Sylvia Clare I read so widely, but I have two or three new poets to me to explore, Audre Lord is one for sure, also a good novel or two, and several memoirs and lots of non fiction, nature, mindfulness mental heatlh ndwhatever else comes into view
Sylvia Clare ooohhh i think i have already written this book as my memoir, No Visible Injuries - a story of survival against the odds, a love story, a spiritual journey, a self discovery book of revelations, adventures and refusals to be beaten.
Sylvia Clare Hi Lucy thanks for asking, I don't know really I just sort of knew I would be when i was at school but when I said this I got so laughed at that I stopped thinking about it. Then in my late thirties I took a creative writing course and in spite of renewed ridicule and put downs from those around me I didn't stop this time. I had a strongly psychic dream which told me I would be published and to keep at it and three years later I got my first publishing contract. Those around me who had ridiculed me never bought my books and are no longer in my life. So my writing came out of an intuitive sense and it seems to flow when I write certain types of pieces and books but not others. Hope that makes sense to you. I have also seen several different astrologers who did my chart and they all said quite independently of each other that my books would eventually become very influential - which horrifies me as I am not that good with public exposure though I cannot seem to stop writing my stuff. How about you ?
Sylvia Clare For me it has been both cathartic and engrossing. I find i am amazed by how my mind finds ways to express things and that it is so much my own voice. Friends say they can hear me talking to them when they read my pieces and I take that as a compliment since they must find that acceptable or they wouldn't be my friends any more. I love the freedom it gives me too but i am not bound by other people's time frames any more anyway so that is very liberating.
Sylvia Clare Not a problem I have experienced since I started meditating and being open the what I am guided to write about. I have enough book ideas to keep me gong for another few years and the poetry just arrives in my mind from time to time also. When I have enough for a collection I put one together. My second volume is in preparation stages right now. But I know that if I was trying to be clever or inventive or do something completely different I would likely get blocked because that is not how I work. I write what I know about and if at some future point I find other things to say then I have a go at writing them too.
Sylvia Clare Just write until you find your own voice. I went to several writing groups who told me this and that but in the end I had to leave them all and just start writing and putting it out there. Gradually and with very little feedback even I managed to find my voice or rather the muse opened me up to her promptings. I can only write as i do and some will like it and some won't but that is ok with me. I don't want to be the best writer out there I just want to be honest and open and share my life to help others.
Sylvia Clare Mostly I am inspired to write by the little nagging voice inside me - which also sometimes gets me up in the night to write. I am also inspired by the notes i have had from so many people over the years telling me how much my books helped them grow in their own lives, that is my only goal really, people are my inspiration, my own life is the content, my husband is my endless support system.
Sylvia Clare My next book will be the book I have been working up to which is explicitly about my mother who had quite psychopathic narcissistic personality disorder. This will be hard for me to write but I shall continue to be as open and honest about it all as I am able. I know there are far too many people out there who have been damaged by NPD parents or other relationships, and even politicians, so I am hoping to illustrate both how to recognise and then how to heal from such relationships. I am also deeply sad and compassionate for those who have NPD. Observing my mother I realise how deeply unhappy they also are inside. Although they are notoriously difficult bunch to reach it is just possible my book might help them too.
Sylvia Clare I wrote all these books after I was given sound advice by at least three different astrologers that I should write books and that they were needed. I don't want to earn more than a basic expenses form them so all profits will be split between me and charities for those most vulnerable, modern enslaved people and similar. I also write a lot of shorter pieces on Medium and on Quora too. I write about the only thing I know about in depth, how to flourish after a really rough start in life, so it is all part memoir and part what I learned from it emotional literacy / mindfulness. I chose to start self publishing because in spite of having friends still in the publishing world - it is so hard to make your voice heard and this way although it is up to me it is also down to me to put the effort into it and be authentic in my work, not an expert from a distance but a shared experience and how to find deep deep joy in life.
