Writing chose me. But I had to go through quite a bit of life before I knew what to write about, to learn the truths about life and death and choices, to learn the deep and true meaning of love, and thus what it is not. To learn that the journey is the point of life, not the goal, not the destination. To learn that life is only real in this moment, all else is fiction. To learn how to value this present moment so the gift of life can be fully appreciated. Words and inspiration still come to me from somewhere beyond myself, they are not mine, yet they are based on my lived experience, my way of looking at the world, of being in it and loving it for what that brings with it.

I have enough book ideas to keep me gong for another few years and the poetry just arrives in my mind from time to time also. When I have enough for a collection I put one together. My second volume is in preparation stages right now. But I know that if I was trying to be clever or inventive or do something completely different I would likely get blocked because that is not how I work. I write what I know about and if at some future point I find other things to say then I have a go at writing them too. (less)

“Intuition is a sense of knowing how to act spontaneously, without needing to know why.”
Sylvia Clare, Trusting Your Intuition: Rediscover Your True Self to Achieve a Richer, More Rewarding Life

“Intuition comes in several forms:
- a sudden flash of insight, visual or auditory
- a predictive dream
- a spinal shiver of recognition as something is occurring or told to you
- a sense of knowing something already
- a sense of deja vu
- a snapshot image of a future scene or event
- knowledge, perspective or understanding divined from tools which respond to the subconscious mind”
Sylvia Clare, Trusting Your Intuition: Rediscover Your True Self to Achieve a Richer, More Rewarding Life

“Intuition is the highest form of intelligence, transcending all individual abilities and skills”
Sylvia Clare, Trusting Your Intuition: Rediscover Your True Self to Achieve a Richer, More Rewarding Life

“You own everything that happened to you. Tell your stories. If people wanted you to write warmly about them, they should have behaved better.”
Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

“Someday, emerging at last from the violent insight,
let me sing out jubilation and praise to assenting angels.
Let not even one of the clearly-struck hammers of my heart
fail to sound because of a slack, a doubtful,
or a broken string. Let my joyfully streaming face
make me more radiant; let my hidden weeping arise
and blossom. How dear you will be to me then, you nights
of anguish. Why didn't I kneel more deeply to accept you,
inconsolable sisters, and surrendering, lose myself
in your loosened hair. How we squander our hours of pain.
How we gaze beyond them into the bitter duration
to see if they have an end. Though they are really
our winter-enduring foliage, our dark evergreen,
our season in our inner year--, not only a season
in time--, but are place and settlement, foundation and soil
and home.”
Rainer Maria Rilke, Duino Elegies and The Sonnets to Orpheus

“Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.”
Søren Kierkegaard

“The function of prayer is not to influence God, but rather to change the nature of the one who prays.”
Soren Kierkegaard

“People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use.”
Søren Kierkegaard
