Catherine Garvin Buttercup and Wesley from The Princess Bride. I feel connected to this romantic couple because Buttercup doubts her true feelings of love and Wesley is so confident of his love - he is willing to take a journey away from love... The real love story is the true love between Buttercup and Wesley touches everyone's heart and inspires all to stand up for love. Thanks for asking. X0's Catherine
Catherine Garvin Hope for the Honey Bee is an idea that came to me through a very deep emotional place inside of me filled with worry, fear and doubt. I set out on an adventure to learn how to be an apiologist and master beekeeper. What I discover is how to listen to honeybees. I learn the best service I can be present to for the honeybee is with the writing this book. With the honeybee experience I transformed all the draining fear based emotions into feelings of empowerment, beauty, balance and bliss. Yes, the idea was in fact vastly different in the beginning than in the end result. I found good reason to write this book from the point-of-view of the honeybee. The idea still embraces me today - to write the next honeybee book. Yes, more on the way.
Catherine Garvin Inspiration is a wellspring of creativity inside of me. (Every one has their own wellspring.) I discovered how to tap my wellspring of inspiration through a daily practice of unconditional love and self-care. Inspiration harmonizes with joy, calm and clarity. Inspiration loves simplicity, being small, grateful and feeling each day is a most blessed, and lucky day to be a live. Whenever I feel darkness overtake my heart I focus on the moment with gratitude for each and every person, place and thing in my life, past, present and future. Writing is only one way I express myself. So I suppose what I am saying is I am inspired to create and writing is just one of the many ways I express my creativity.
Catherine Garvin Right now, I prepare for a trip to Nepal and India to do further research on the Himalayan honeybees. The new working title for my next book is Apis Dorsata Laboriosa: The Mystery and Majesty of the Cliff Hanging Himalayan Honeybee.
Catherine Garvin I recommend write. Aspire to experience as much joy inside through a daily practice of unconditional love and self-care. For example, do I aspire to eat lunch or do I just eat lunch? In other words, I recommend just write. Aspire for confidence, courage and clarity to remain passionate, and committed to the task of discovery every day the mystery, wonder, and joy of being awake in life. Wonder, be amazed, feel and write. In the end while aspiring to all things great - don't forget to feed the cat, walk the dog and most of all write.
Catherine Garvin The best part or thing about being a writer for me begins with the experience of being present (Grounded) in the world right now through my writing practice. My writing is a practice of creating me into the world. All the parts of me that hide and live in silence feel safe to come out in my writing. So being a writer means for me that I experience living fully from a place that honors, respects and appreciates life with all of it's twists and turns.
Catherine Garvin Strike a balance write every day small 250 to 500 word pieces. Lower the expectation bar not every piece of writing has to be brilliant and allow a love of the writing practice to emerge. Set smaller writing goals that work towards bigger goals over time. Set a deadline for each project. READ "Write Screenplay in 21 Days" If a writing project is just frustrating and draining energy stop go for a walk, swim, sing or have an artist's day at a museum, mountain or whatever brings an uplifting experience of joy inside. Either finish the project or let it go into a box for a year and open it back up when ready to start from a different point-of-view. I appreciate the question however, in my creative practice as a writer I have never encountered writer's block. I am forever grateful to my daily creative practice and process. In other words, I feel most blessed with lots of new ideas and fun things to write about all the time. My challenge is to choose one and focus. I practice everyday taking care of myself first and allow creativity to meander rather be forced. I am always learning new things every day and every year. I am just curious about a lot of people, place and things. I do my own research, read from noteworthy writers and I allow myself to experience first hand what I want to write about. My topics are honeybees, mermaids, fashion and music however, I do write musical plays and other short stories based on fictionalized history. I imagine you are a writer, my best recommendation is to write everyday even if it is 30 minutes of jibber-ish. (The Artist's Way By Julia Cameron)...Write, read, and love yourself unconditionally. Strike a balance with a daily practice. It's like putting $1,000's of dollars in your creative bank account and it does pay off with clarity, joy and fun-filled experiences. Please let me know if you have a follow up question. Thank you so much for asking. I really appreciate this time I spend with you on this super awesome creative adventure called, "Writing."
