Never give up. When I was a kid, I thought becoming a writer was about the same as becoming a famous Hollywood actress. In other words, if you weren't born perfect and didn't live in the right neighborhood or know the right people, you're screwed. Becoming a writer isn't easy, but it's not impossible if you discipline yourself and stay determined. Today I received my first novel royalty check and I'm only $999,979.19 away from being a millionaire!

I stare at my yellow legal pad until I get bored and start writing. Once I get a few pages written, I'm "in the mood" to write and switch to the word processor to finish my daily quota.
