Steven K. Smith Hi Gracie - thanks for your question and I'm glad you're enjoying my books! I'm currently working on book 8 which will tie in with Thomas Jefferson. It should be ready before the end of the year!

Hi Steven, My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting you and one of your sons this past Saturday at the Hanover Tomato Festival. I picked up Harborwood and the first of the Virginia Mysteries series for our grandson. I was just wondering if you'll be at any festival/show locally in the near future? Thanks Cheryl Leehy
Steven K. Smith Hi Cheryl - Thanks for stopping by and for your note. The Tomato Festival was great fun! I have several events coming up this summer around the Richmond area. Hi Steven! I'm a native Richmonder (now living in the eastern panhandle of WV) and my 7YO daughter and I are hooked on the Virginia Mysteries series. We're currently on book #5, Midnight at the Mansion and were wondering if you have any plans to continue the series beyond that? We're not ready for it to end!
Steven K. Smith Hi Kristin, thanks for your question! I'm so glad that you're enjoying the series. Yes, I do have plans to continue the books and am in development of Book 6 right now! Hi Steven, Do the Virginia Mysteries need to be read in order? I saw that #3 is on sale for .99 at Amazon, but didn't know if I need to buy the other two first for my daughter. :-D Also, these are intended for middle school age, yes? They're not 'too young' or 'too old' for my 6th and 7th graders, in your opinion? Thank you!! Jules
Steven K. Smith Thanks for your question Jules. The books are all the same characters for the series, but each is a free-standing story so they can be read out of order. I generally say they are for the 7-12 age range, but particularly the later books I think would be fine for grades 6/7. Thanks for your interest!

I see you've written four books. Are they all part of a series? Which would you recommend I read first?
Steven K. Smith Thanks for your question! Three of my books are part of a series called The Virginia Mysteries. (Summer of the Woods, Mystery on Church Hill, and Ghosts of Belle Isle.) I've also written a stand alone short story called Pitch Black Dark. The series books can be read out of order, but as a way to meet the main characters, brothers Sam and Derek, why don't you start with Book 1: Summer of the Woods. All the stories are for ages 7-12, but the books get slightly longer as they go along. Hope you enjoy!
