Thanks, mate, glad you enjoyed my stuff. Unfortunately, I no longer have an agent, so getting my new books published is tricky. Hopefully, that'll change .

Hey, man. Glad you like my stuff.
I've got a new series in the works, bridging the gap between The Long War and Form and Void. I won't give too much away, but the first book is set to be called A Giant's Tale.

Thanks, mate, glad you enjoy them. I'm honestly not sure when it comes out, though rest assured that it's all finished and ready. The publishing industry is a bit all over the place at the moment, so I've not been given a definitive date.

More information is given about the clerics in the sequels, but in the meantime...
White - church of purity, peace and healing
Gold - church of wealth, greed and gluttony
Black - church of death
Blue - church of knowledge, wisdom and teaching
Purple - church of nobility
Red - church of war, strength and conquest

Yup. Shamelessly "adapted" from Lovecraft's Shoggoth.

Which book are which characters from, my dear reader?
A.J. Smith
Chuckle. That is a very interesting question. The abilities of which you speak are certainly not limitedl to a certain character, though certainly they are rare and require a certain strength of mind and body. I certainly hope you will "read and find out." You may even discover that a certain character had the same idea as you. Of that you can be quite... sure.

Hello.
Utha the Ghost is one of the main characters across all four Long War books. There's also an interesting reason as to why he's an albino. I will confess, as with you, that the condition fascinates me.

We will be taking a trip to a new world for the next series - The Kingdom of the Four Claws. However, I intend to purchase a return ticket so we can re-visit the Long War at a later date.

I haven't yet read The World Raven, but it is #2 on my list now (I have a book-circle book that I need to finish first). But I have no reason to doubt it will be a good volume, and so it's GREAT NEWS to hear you'll try a new setting! Best wishes.

I am yet another US resident who has fallen in love with your books. I ordered the hard cover from amazon.co.uk(paying the unfortunate shipping fee). But I have a friend that resorted to pirating because there was no legal means to get an ebook version. Which is all he reads.
We had a lengthy debate about the ethics of what he was doing. I told him he should also buy a hard cover to support the author. He said he'd happily buy the ebook, but he couldn't justify spending over 3 times the amount for a physical book that he didn't want.
I guess I'm asking for your take on this? What's a US fan to do when acquiring your book through legal means is impossible or discouragingly costly? ...more

I won't moralise about piracy - I don't think anyone is without sin in that area - but the lack of a U.S publisher is more frustrating than anything else. I'd suggest befriending a rich publishing-type-dude and singing my praises.

Yes, several. There are certainly more good, badass women than bad, badass women.
Halla Summer Wolf, axe-maiden of Tiergarten, Daughter of the Wolf, and the greatest battle commander since high thain Teardrop. She also gets an apprentice called Greta Cloud Seer.
Bronwyn of Canarn, itinerant noblewoman, desperately trying to remember her sword training as she witnesses battle after battle.
Gwendolyn of Hunter's Cross, the Lady of Haran and self-proclaimed "most dangerous bitch in Tor Funweir." (See book 3)
Ryuthula "Ruth"... you'll have to read to find out about her. She's fucking awesome though.
There're more, but they're my favourites. I try and keep my mouth shut when people critisise me for the main baddies being seductive women. Especially when they ignore everyone else. The enchantresses aren't actually in it that much. They certainly get less "page-time" than Halla. As something of a feminist, I find the complaints bizarre.
Thanks for the interest.
