As a non-fiction Christian writer, I get most inspired by scripture that I read. I'm a believer in reading the bible daily. It makes a difference in my approach to life, both personally and professionally. Only then can you experience what people refer to as "living scripture". I can read the same book of the bible this year and in the next year and will come away with different guidance from the scripture. This plants seeds for me that sometimes turn into writing ideas.

Keep an ongoing list of ideas. Take an idea and make an outline. If you have enough different topics/ideas for a book, based on your outline, then take time to start on a chapter. I start with the introduction because that provides the foundation for me and allows me to establish my goals to cover in the book.

The hardest thing for me is to take the time to sit down and write. Once I dedicate the time and start the writing process, the words just flow and flow. I sometimes have a hard time finding a good stopping point. I tend to write at night so that helps me decompress from a work day in Corporate America and it gives me something to look forward to.

I am currently writing a book for Christian men to provide biblical guidance for the modern man. The book is based on Ecclesiastes chapter 7 but includes select Psalms and Proverbs, as well as New Testament reinforcement for each chapter. Each chapter has questions for personal reflection or for use in men's bible studies.

I really felt called to get a positive message out about marriage with the foundational goal of preventing divorce. I wanted to provide blended information pulling from my academic background, over twenty years of marriage, and my spirituality.
