Bart King Hi Michele! Thank you for your kind question. I am perfectly fine, thank you, and I hope you are as well. I still post very regularly on Facebook and Twitter, but I just couldn't find the time to do a third post to my blog, which must be the feed here at GoodReads. So I'm afraid my presence here has wilted... Sad! I'd be happy to friend you over at FB (although I have my issues with the site). Hang tough in these remarkable times, Michele, and again, thank you very much. :)
Bart King William Stafford said that if you have writer's block, lower your standards and keep going.

This is pretty great advice.
Bart King Hi Shamiya!

Thanks for the question. The quick answer is "Nope."

The loooonger answer is that there are good reasons not to download free books. For one, you never really know WHAT you're downloading at sites that offer this service. That's because they are generally illegal—so you're in danger of getting malware and nasty viruses with your download.

The reason these sites are illegal (if they're offering free downloads of books that are for sale) is that authors work really hard to write their books. Even the bad ones and ones we don't like are the result of a LOT of effort. These authors deserve to be paid for their hard work—after all, a lot of them really depend on that income!

(What I'm describing doesn't apply to special free offers from reputable ebook suppliers, like Kindle. And it doesn't apply to writers who offer their own stuff for free, like self-published stuff or fan fiction.)

Hopefully this makes sense—and whatever decision you make, keep on reading!

Best,

Bart
Bart King Hi Shamiya,

Good question! Usually when I write a book, it’s all “on me.” That means I’m the only one responsible for researching it and hopefully making it funny and even sort of educational.

But there was ONE book I couldn’t just write by myself. That’s because I’m the wrong gender to write the book—in other words, I’m a guy!

So I asked my five sisters and 55 of my former (female) students to help. And that process was so much fun, and I learned so much, my favorite book is . . . The Big Book of Girl Stuff. :)

All the best!
Bart King
