Alone in the darkness, he felt his wife's hands gently caress his neck from behind, he closed his eyes in the moment. Then opened them to see her enter the room with terror in her eyes.

Hi Alan, so glad you are enjoying Vengeance, and I hope you enjoy the ending!! And of course, go on to enjoy Hidden too. To answer your question, yes, I plan other things, but will keep going with this series, so long as good folk like your good self are enjoying it. Cheers, and thanks for the feedback too, Roger.

Hi Alan, thanks for the question. As the two main protagonists are Detective Vinnie Palmer and TV news reporter Christine Jones I came up with 'Badge and the Pen' to represent both occupations; notwithstanding, that Christine doesn't make an appearance until half-way through Nemesis, they are, as you know pretty much shoulder to shoulder thereafter. And thanks on the congrats, much appreciated.

Hi Karen, not too sure. I knew all my life I wanted to write books but was always 'too busy' until I left the police and then had no further excuses. It is something that I now just have to do. I have a love/hate relationship until the book I'm writing is actually complete; like an itch that hurts when you scratch it while it also relieves the itching!

Great question, probably any of the Dr Who books, that way I could visit many worlds in the TARDIS and observe. I've probably cheated a bit with that answer, but imagine what you could see?

I'll probably load up on a few staples such as Lee Child and Michael Connolly to name but two; but I always try to take a few new authors' works with me when I go on holiday too. I'll let you know who once I've chosen a few.

As a detective I worked in a covert role in Bangkok, and was chased down by the bad guys after my position was compromised, but I managed to evade them. Would love to tell that story, but can't unfortunately. Though I can borrow bits from my previous life to inform my fictional writing!

Hi, I don't think I have one particular favourite couple, but I do love fiction where a man and a woman have fairly equal standing as lead characters. Too often a male lead can have a Junior, or too often females are portrayed as victims. I guard against this in my writing. In my first two books (By Their Rules and A New Menace) John Burrows and Jane Lee are pretty much on par. In my new 'Badge and the Pen' series - starting with Nemesis with Vengeance coming out very soon - Vinnie Palmer and Christine Jones are very equal.

Just write. Anything, even if it's rubbish, it'll kick start the thought processes and you can always go back and cut the rubbish out. Also, reading the previously written chapter can work too.

Working for yourself, mainly from home, and being able to access a world which is all of your own making.

Forget the bad days, and concentrate on the good days. Writing in a bad mood creates bad writing; writing on a good creates good writing, and don't quit.

Good question - it's like an itch, you have to scratch it even though you know it will hurt - but once finished it feels great.

I know how cheeky some of the top villains can be - from my past occupation - so I just mused that through my fetid imagination - I'm referring to 'A New Menace' which is due out soon. However, with regards to 'By Their Rules' I just thought it might be fun to level the playing surface!!
