Toni Jenkins Hi Ann

Thanks so much for your feedback. I'm thrilled that you enjoyed The Sender and I hope you enjoy The Gift when it comes out later this year.

The inspiration for The Sender came from a visit to a card shop (I'm an avid card shop haunter!). It started with a simple idea and I added the premise of 'paying it forward' and let my imagination take it from there. I've written a blog about how it all came together here: http://booksbywomen.org/card-shops-an...

Thank you for choosing to read The Sender and for your rating. Much appreciated.

Toni
Toni Jenkins I have to say I have been lucky never to have been side-lined by the dreaded writer's block. I write one full day a week, so by the time Writing Day arrives, it's all bursting to pour out and my keyboard is smoking! But, I never take it for granted. I know I could be hit by the curse at any time. It must be horrendous.
Toni Jenkins Escaping into a world of your own creation. It's a wonderful feeling to weave something together that is unique and to know that it has all come from your own imagination. The hard part is falling in love with the people you create, spending many intense months with them, and then letting them go when you finish. There's a certain sadness about coming to the end as well as the feeling of exhilaration.
Toni Jenkins Believe in yourself and commit. A book won't write itself and procrastination really is a waste of time. Allow yourself time to think, let your mind go free so that all manner of scenarios can be imagined, then pick those you want to work with. Carry a notebook everywhere! You can be hit by inspiration at any time and the last thing you want is to forget that little nugget of wisdom because you didn't jot it down.
Toni Jenkins Promoting The Sender! There is so much involved in trying to get the wider world to take notice of my novel amongst the masses so a lot of time and energy is going into that at the moment. The first draft of my next novel is complete but I need to work on editing it. The Gift will be published in 2016, then I will be ready to write Benevolence, which is only at construction stage.
Toni Jenkins Writing is my passion and as important to me as breathing. It's the most pure form of escapism I know. I am inspired by things all around me - what I see, hear, research, experience and know. There is so much fodder out in the world to work from! I have so many ideas and am so eager to get it all down but there is never enough time to do it all. Now, if I could just be a full-time writer...
Toni Jenkins I combined the principles of altruism and paying it forward with The Butterfly Effect to tell a story about how one seemingly small, kind, anonymous act can have a powerfully positive ripple effect in the wider world. I used the card to carry the story as I have a thing about cards - I love making them (it's very cathartic!), sending them, perusing them in card shops, and receiving them. To me the card is the perfect conveyor of the theme in The Sender.
