I've always wanted to go to the time before the Old West, before the Civil War, to the time of the Mountain Man, but this is the first time I've used all my years of research to create such a story - hence, The Trader was born.

Write - write - write. Make certain you entertain your projected readers, and get a professional critique of your work before you even attempt to publish or submit to a publisher. Also, make sure you are submitting to a publisher who specializes in your genre - i.e. If they specialize in non-fiction, don't submit fiction - no matter what genre.

Usually sleep, or I start working on a different project. I have anywhere from 3 to 8 books in the works at any given time, so it's pretty easy to break a block. And if that doesn't work, I have plenty of yard work to do - which encourages me to get back to writing!
