Hi Amelia, so immensely sorry I just saw this question from you! My idea for a boy who could create different worlds . . . to be honest, I don't remember how the idea came to me. I don't know anyone with that power. :) I like to think I have a muse on my shoulder, and she occasionally pops ideas into my head. As for Dartmouth . . . I loved my experience there. I especially liked the small school atmosphere and the small student to teacher ratio. Plus, upstate New Hampshire is beautiful!

I have always been a writer, but it wasn't until the last few years that I committed to the idea of being an author. I went to college to become a teacher, and that was my job for fourteen years--until I had a child. I LOVED teaching and miss it so much, but once my son was born, I chose to stay home with him and use the time to work on my writing.

Hi Cindy! Thanks for the questions! I wish I could tell you why I chose to write from a male's point of view instead of a female's. The truth is I'm not sure. I've written manuscripts featuring female protagonists in the past, but when I pictured the main character in this particular story, he was a boy.

Hi Kate! Funny you should ask, since I'm in the middle of that right now! Most of my promotion has been an effort to get people to read and review the book. This includes sending ARCs to local schools and to bloggers and running contests in conjunction with bloggers where the prize is a copy of the book. Along with some other writers, I'm also doing some touring to schools, libraries, and bookstores, including a few workshops for teen writers. (You can see the schedule here: http://www.jenbrookswriter.com/appear...) Thanks for the question!
