J. Carrell Jones Greetings Caroline,

It seems like you have not been getting my replies to your last several emails - pity. Please check your spam/junk mail folder. But since you're asking here, I'll answer here.

First, I do apologize for the delay. My fault. I sent Four Corners 10/23/2014. It was shipped directly from our Printer/Distributor Lightning Source. This is the shipping info:

Tracking #: 2012122820013355 10/23/2014 9780962783579 Four Corners 1

In the last two replies to you, one was directly sent to your email address while the other was a reply through Goodreads, I extended to you an offer. Please see below (Copied from the last two replies):

"I have to apologize. I checked our fulfillment printer's records. They sent Four Corners to the correct address but the name was different (my fault). If you don't receive the book in another week (it was shipped 10/23/2014) please let us know. We'll rush out another book.

In the mean time, if you like, you may choose any or all of our current books, in eBook format, to read. I will be happy to send them in PDF, mobi, or ePub format.

Caroline - Is the above good for you? As I mentioned, we'll rush you out a second copy, I'd just like you to read the above and advise accordingly. Thanks.

I do sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this delay is causing and thank you for your patience and understanding."

As mentioned above, you had not acknowledged my last email replies. I am sending you a direct Goodreads message. It has your address. Please verify it. Thanks.

J. Carrell Jones Three story ideas - One is in the mid future dealing with an Android I created years ago and the second is a contemporary action police procedure story featuring Karen Bechard - the main character from Rage. A third story is not too far off - it's a spin off from the Enemy Me book. It'll feature the two detectives Rick Pearl and Barbara Tipper. I see this story as a cross between X-files and Bladerunner.
J. Carrell Jones Just write. And keep writing. Don't listen to the nay-sayers. They are just haters and jealous and sometimes self-loathing. They can't do so they try and make it so you can't. You want to write, so write. And it is okay to stare at the monitor or the pad of paper for hours. I've had times where it took up to a week to write a sentence, but I wrote it. That's the important part. Those around you may nag - let them, it's only wasted air. Write. Write. Write. One word, one sentence, one paragraph, two paragraphs. Write. And keep on writing until you are done.

This is a side note, not a judgement: You can't write your story if you are reading someone else's. You either write or you read - it's impossible to do both simultaneously.

Ask yourself a simple question: Are you a writer or reader? 'nuff said.
J. Carrell Jones Creating worlds and bringing original characters to life. As the writer I get to tell stories that are important to me. I get overwhelmed with emotion in the realization that I can create something that others may read and, of course, enjoy if not walk away with some positive feelings. But, ultimately, it's the storytelling and I am a storyteller.
J. Carrell Jones A dream. It was about 20 years ago. Like most of my books, they start off as a dream (day-dreaming or sleeping), and grow into short stories in my head. From there I flush out as many characters as I can as well as a usable plot. My first several books started as dreams I had back in the 1980s and early 90s. The more recent ones as day-dreams.
J. Carrell Jones It was Star Trek. The "Captain" of our ship (a STARFLEET International Club Chapter at the time), the USS Shadowstar, Lee Birdine wrote stories about the crew's adventure. I was so impressed with his writing that I wanted to write my own stories. That was an interesting time. It was a good time. My character was a Vulcan raised by a Human, and thus he often displayed human emotions. I wrote the stories back in the late 1980s. A special note: He started off as a Security Office and later became a Starship Captain. This was sometime before Voyager.
J. Carrell Jones I mainly do three things: Research, Design, and talk to a friend.

Research - Personally, I think you can never have too much information. The Internet is full of it: good, bad, or indifferent. And, the mind is a fantastic thing. Its able to draw on that bloated store of data 24/7, asleep or awake. There have been many times I'll wake up from a dream with yet another story to write or an answer to something I'm working on.

Design - This is where I am lucky. I'm also an Artist. If I get bogged down on a section of a story, I'll start think about doing an art piece. Be it a new poster, a new book cover, an illustration or experiment with a new technique. There are hundreds of great Photoshop tutorials on YouTube. One of my favorites is Phlearn.com. Aaron is outstanding.

A Friend - My BFF lives one apartment down from me. We've know each other for decades and having her literally less than a hundred feet away has been awesome. Sometimes we'll talk about an idea I'm working on, or something she is working on or something completely out in left field.

So, at some point I'll realize the writer's block is gone and I'll just say, "I wanna write."
