Hi, CD! Been under the weather, so I just saw this. We are editing Harbinger right now, and only have a few chapters left to cover. I'm aiming for Memorial Day weekend for the eBook. The print book will take another two weeks or so, as I have to format it, submit it, and wait for the proof copy to arrive in the mail. But if we don't run into any obstacles, that eBook is nearly here! And a good thing, too, as I have to get back to Riverbend and sort out things for Jackson and Forrest Painter! :)
Thanks for asking, and I hope you're going to enjoy Harbinger. It's off the wall, for sure, but it also has some of the best Mac and Rabbit moments I've written, I think. It's really "their" book, and allows them to bond the way Sarah always thought they would.
Let me know if you have any other questions, and have a great week!

From a character in the book I wrote before it. After finishing Wake-Robin Ridge, I thought I was done with Sarah Gray and MacKenzie Cole. I planned to tell other stories set in the same general location, but I wasn't planning on a traditional series. Sarah had other ideas. As I was drifting off to sleep one night, I distinctly heard her whisper into my ear that there was a little boy, alone in the rugged mountain wilderness of North Carolina, and he needed to have his story told. Who am I to argue with a directive like that? I got up the next morning and started writing A Boy Named Rabbit, and I'm really excited to have this one "out there," now. I hope readers will love Little Rabbit as much as I do. He's an extraordinary and very gifted boy, with the power to change the life of everyone he touches.

I'm OLD! My head is filled with years and years of inspirations, ideas, characters I'd love to write about, and funny things I've seen. Once I decided to tell my stories, I discovered I can't stop. I wake up every day, ready to write, and irritated when Real Life gets in my way.

I have just finished "A Boy Named Rabbit," the sequel to "Wake-Robin Ridge." This second book in the series is about a remarkable ten-year-old boy, raised in the wilderness, and left alone to find his way out of the mountains on a search for the Good People. It's available for download on Kindle now. I'm in the middle of "Hunter," the sequel to "Swamp Ghosts," and set in the fictional central Florida town of Riverbend. This one is turning out to be a lot of fun to write, and very romantic...until tragedy strikes. I'm aiming for a late summer publication for "Hunter."

Read. Everything. All genres. Many authors. See how those who have succeeded made it happen. Then write. As often as possible. And let your voice shine through. Learn (or have references at hand) correct grammar! It's distracting to read a book filled with noticeable errors. Don't skip using an editor. The best one you can afford. Your work will be much more professional, and readers will take you more seriously. Give it all your very best. And last, love what you do. It will show.

Everything. Except self-marketing. Urp. Other than that, I love the entire process. Coming up with an idea (usually a brainstorm out of nowhere), making a few preliminary notes, finding the perfect way to open the story, getting to know the characters as they tell me who they are. All of it. I have a great fondness for research my character names, too, looking for hints to heritage, perhaps, or just the name that sounds like it fits my vision.

Knock on wood, but so far, I haven't had this problem. I have so many ideas in my head, and so many voices speaking to me, the only thing that slows me down is how fast I can type. Once in a while, I have to stop and decide what's going to happen next, or in which scene, but that's usually only a matter of a couple of hours of "What-If's," and then I'm typing again. I'm sure I'll face this problem some day, and when I do...I'll get back to ya! :)
