Having submitted book 3 to my publisher, I'm about to dive into planning book 4, as yet untitled, but it has the theme of empowerment. And a fantastic hero who is going to exhaust me.

For me, writing is a compulsion. There's the feeling that if I don't get these things out of my imagination and onto paper, my head will explode. It won't ... at least, I don't believe it will - I've never left it long enough to find out.
There are two main reasons I love to write: I get to explore themes and ideas from the safety of my kitchen, where my desk is, and as a disabled person, with rheumatoid arthritis, I get to live vicariously through the characters, in the same way I do as a reader. However, as a writer I get to direct the characters, unless they're misbehaving and take over.

I have times when writing isn't going to plan, but there are always ideas and schemes and plot points whizzing around my head. If I can't solve a problem there and then, I'll tackle another scene or write a short story, or listen to some Paloma Faith.

If you're dream is to achieve publication, keep going. Learn as much about writing as you can by reading, attending courses and/or workshops, and get involved with writing groups, but ensure you choose the right one for you. Perseverance is key.
